Pattern: Twisted, a pattern currently undergoing test knitting on Ravelry.
Yarn: Cascade Eco Wool
Needles: 6 mm plastic dpns, the super pointy and long Susan Bates ones
Mods: I think went down a needle size cause I used what I had. I also added a C4F repeat.
So yeah, it’s cute. It’s a touch short, and I were to make it again, I would add another cable repeat or two, probably a full repeat of the lattice cable (which I love, btw) so it sits on my head more stably. The cables are lovely, and despite all of them, blocking opened the hat up a lot. It’s definitely going into my slouchy hat rotation (I have four as of right now).
So what else is going on? I have more swap things coming up. I started a shawl. I’ve sort of hit a wall on the dino mitts but I am thinking about them, at the very least. So yes. Posting will happen. It will be great. For sure. : ) Stay tuned!
Pattern: A Slouch for All Seasons from Classic Elite
Yarn: Knit Picks Wool of the Andes, almost exactly a skein and a half, in Amethyst Heather
Needles: US 6/4 mm metal dpns and Knit Picks 16″ circular.
Mods: Only CO 80 so I did fewer pattern repeats around. Because 100 is just way too many stitches.
Another slouchy hat to add to my collection. And I’ve got plans for at least one more cause I’m test knitting for someone on Ravelry. : ) I love this one a lot: it’s the perfect amount of slouchy and it knit up super quickly. And used up stash yarn! Yay! I will definitely be getting a lot of wear out of this one.
In other knitting news: Still fiddling with the dino mittens. Finished a swap hat. Will soon be working on swap armwarmers in some awesome cable pattern cause sometimes I like things that aren’t just stockinette. Stay tuned.
The awesome new mittens I’ve been working on? They look like this:
That’s right, folks, dinosaurs! I’ll be selling the pattern for these as well and will have several options for different dinos. The Triceratops is all written up, and I’ve got to figure out how to do the T-Rex so it actually looks like a T-Rex. I’ve yet to muddle out the stegosaurus, but that’s happening too. If you’ve got suggestions or requests for other dinos, just let me know! I want to have as many options as possible for these guys.
Like the sharks, the pattern will be in both adult and child sizes. I hope to get it up before the month is out, resulting in a pattern that will make perfect holiday gifts–I did the actual knitting of these (disregarding fiddling and figuring time) in like, three days.
These ones, in an adult size, are for the boyfriend, who love dinos and I’m sure will be noming on people all the time once I figure out the T-Rex. : )
I’m also knitting for me:
That’s a Classic Elite pattern, A Slouch for All Seasons, done up in Knit Picks Wool of the Andes left over from the sweater vest. I should have enough yarn, but it’ll be close. I’d be more worried if I hadn’t cut out two pattern repeats and only cast on 80 instead of 100. This hat looks to be done tomorrowish.
I’ve thrown my hat back into the ring for the Ongoing Wish Swap and claimed someone for a knit hat, so that’s coming up on the radar. I’m not doing Christmas gifts this year (except for my sister, which is a story for a later date). Stay tuned!
Pattern: Esme by Amy Pickard
Yarn: Cascade Eco Wool in coffee, left over from owls.
Needles: US 10/6 mm, which I did not realize until just this moment is a needle size UP from the pattern rather than DOWN, as I originally thought. Fail.
Modifications: Tightened the brim a bit, probably lengthened the bit before the decreases. Mostly, I knit as is.
I think this hat came out quite nice. Despite my fuck-up with gauge, the hat fits and (provided I arrange my hair just right) actually looks kind of cute on me. I like it, and I will actually wear it out as the temperature drops but isn’t quite fuck-appearances-I-just-want-warm-ears cold. It’s a fall hat. Lovely. AND I used up one of the two balls of Cascade Eco I had left over from owls. I have another large one, and I’m not sure what I’ll do with that (felted slippers, maybe). But stash busting is always good in my book, especially when it results in hats. : )
Coming up: A sewing thing. Probably some knitting things (I just started a vest) and maybe another (better) surprise later along the way. Stay tuned!

(Sorry for the shitty night pictures.)
Pattern: Foliage by Emilee Mooney
Yarn: Lion Wool Solid in Cadet Blue
Needles: US 7/4.5 mm dpns and circs
Mods: …None. Astonishing.
So my hat came out too large, which was unfortunate. Not that I needed another tight-fitting beanie-style hat. So I blocked it taller so it came out as more of a beret. I’m not sure how I feel about it on my head, but at the very least, it looks cute on the Styrofoam head. The ribbing also came out too big, but that was fixed with a crochet bow. *shrug* I’ll probably wear it a bit. Maybe I’ll gift it. We shall see.
In other knitting news: I finished Watermelon, ends woven in and buttons sewn on and everything. So that will happen soon. I’m also working on (yet another) sweater, and seeing as it’s in bulky yarn (Cascade Eco) on 6.5 mm needles, it’s going pretty fast. I suspect I’ll be done by the end of next week.
Unfortunately, knitting is really all I have time for, thanks to school. That would also be the cause of my rather erratic posting schedule. My apologies about that, but I am trying to post more frequently. Probably not frequently enough for NaBloPoMo (post a blog post every day), but more frequently none the less. Knitting will happen. Crafts will happen. Stay tuned!
Greetings, all. A couple of knitterly things have been in the works lately. For one thing, I recently started the Cavern Cardigan in Lion Brand Cotton-Ease in Lime (I had it on hand and have been meaning to make a light little summery/springy cardigan). I’m going to have a bit of trouble with the sizing because I’m small, and the size of the pattern is medium/36″ bust. I’m either going to have a lot of ease of a lot of fiddling. We’ll see. That’s being worked on.
Other things: I made a hat!
From a chart I found on Ravely. Unfortunately, it came out weird. My large gauge made the motif too wide and also I fucked up the chart a couple of times. Also, it was coming out too long, so I hurried with the decreases, making it really bunchy. It now looks like this:
Yep. But I made some other things too:
It’s the Zune/iPod Wallet found here on the Internets. I used Red Heart Strata in this blue color, which would have been a lot nicer if they hadn’t included the black and white bits. *shrug* I made one using the pattern exactly for my iPod and cast on a couple more and knit a couple extra rounds to make a similar one for my boyfriend’s Creative Zen mp3 player. It’s really a quite useful little cozy because it means I don’t have to search through my whole purse for my headphones and because the cord isn’t EVERYWHERE, the headphones will last longer. So that’s good.
Pictures of Hey Teach are… nonexistant yet. I’m waiting for the weather to warm up and stop being wet so I can take spring-type pictures in the sun. Patience, children. Also, I’m expecting a swap package some time in the realm of soon, so you have that post to look forward to also. : )
