…about this Ravelympics sweater thing. I steeked it. And it was scary. And I’m still not convinced the whole thing won’t unravel.

(Holy Christ, it’s all gonna come apart.)

Ahem. Anyway. So. Let’s snag a peek at the calendar. It’s Thursday, February 25. This sucker is supposed to be DONE on Sunday. Cast off, finished, caput. Wearable. And my thought on Tuesday, when I did the steek, was that it would be. Except for one thing.
I BOUGHT THE WRONG ZIPPER A MONTH AND A HALF AGO.
Cause I thought I could fiddle with it and make it work. I though I could fix one side of a regular zipper and make a separating zipper.
Turns out, you can’t.
So I have a sweater with an OPEN WOUND.
Fortunately, I was able to get to Walmart and get a new zipper. It’s not the color I wanted, but I suppose it’ll do. And it means I’ll still be able to get gold with my sweater. Cause that’s totally happening.
Look for a FO post on Saturday or Sunday cause this sucker is gonna be DONE.
With the extra fabric I got in my epically awesome rainbow swap package, I made a zipper pouch:
I left the image large so you can see the awesome fabric. : )
It’s a pretty simple design, the pouch, used a zipper I had in the stash that I bought in a bunch from an Etsy seller several months ago and for the lining, I used some of the flowered sheet I still have TONS of. The pouch currently holds all of the stuff that had been floating around the bottom of my purse: Chapstick, lotion, hair ties, band-aids, and that sort of thing. It’s just the right size and I got to use every inch of the fabric so I get to admire it every time I pull the bag out of my purse. : )
In other (knitting news), I’ve finished the knitting on Climbing Vines and now I’m just waiting for the pieces to dry so I can sew it all together. I currently have a tank top on the needles (more about that later) and I’ll have pictures of something I knit for a friend’s birthday as soon as she takes them (I forgot). Tomorrow I’ll have a post about a totally unrelated craft.
So Walmart’s closing their fabric sections, but the one close to me still has a fairly sizable one. The good news is that because they’re closing them, there’s a TON of discount fabric (I’m talking a dollar a yard). Their remnants bin is pretty awesome too, which is where I scored half a yard of halloween fabic for 80 cents. Using some orange gingham (also from Walmart’s remnants bin) and a zipper I took off an old purse that was all ratty and dingy, I came up with this:
I love it, and it’s just big enough to hold my wallet, my phone, my ipod, and a chapstick. : ) Making these clutches is addictive, and I will definitely be making a ton more. Probably some to sell. I ought to list another Halloween one on Etsy seeing as I still have quite a bit of this fabric left.
