FINALLY, here’s a post for the second of three (the Aviatrix hat and Cloud Bolero) items for OliviaGoddess on Ravelry.

Needles: US 7/4.5 mm, two at a time magic loop
Mods: None.
So these are cute little mitts and they’re REALLY stretchy. The yarn is soft and I am a little sad I don’t get to keep them, but a pair of fingerless gloves are on my list of things to make for myself when I get the chance. There’s not really a whole lot to say about the mitts, other than you might want to knit more than an inch before knitting back and forth for the thumb hole. Also I prefer gusseted thumbs. And thumb covering bits (you know, instead of just a hole).
But let me talk about these photos. It gets dark so early that I haven’t had time while it’s still light out to wrangle my boyfriend into taking pictures for me. Fed up with it, I finally just did it myself.
But you’ll notice how I have both hands in the pictures. I didn’t use a timer (which possibly would have been easier). I didn’t use my chin. I put the camera on the table, put my hands on the table in front of the camera, then swung my leg up on the table and pressed the shutter with my toe.
Never let it be said I’m not flexible.
Before I go into today’s subject matter, I just want to note that my shark mittens were featured on the Meet Me at Mike’s blog! And I’m super chuffed about it. : )
Anyway, so I got the yarn yesterday for another WWFY swap that I am super excited about. I’m knitting for Stuffycat, and she sent six skeins of Bugga:
The brown that’s partially balled will be made into Cookie A’s Monkey socks and the other two will be made into Kitty Hawk, a steampunk-errific set of mitts and a hat.
In return, I received the following three skeins of yarn:
And I already know what I’m going to knit with them. The blue will be made into Viper Pilots and the other two are for my own set of Kitty Hawk mitts and hat. Yay!
I have a bunch of other things I have to knit before I can start any of these (including THREE PAIRS of shark mittens I got orders for yesterday), but I can’t wait to be able to knit with the Bugga. It’s super soft and lovely. And now I have three!
I recently participated in a frugal themed swap–saving money through resuable items. I received my package from my partner today, and it was full of wonderful things:
She sent me a great laptop sleeve, yarn made from t-shirts (which I’ll probably crochet into a rug), a bunch of cloth napkins, and some nommy bath stuff:
Some sugar scrub, a soap, and a tub of chapstick, which I love and is fantastic. I have a serious addiction to chapstick, and this one is peppermint flavored and it makes my lips tingly. : )
I sent my swap package out this morning, so after my partner receives, I can show what I sent. And I still have to take pictures of the Improvisation Mitts, which I hope to do tomorrow.
Another NaBloPoMo day accomplished.
I currently have two wips in progress for a WWFY trade. As I mentioned before, the trade was for three items. I finished the Aviatrix hat, which I showed you the other day. I started the second item yesterday:
A Cloud Bolero in Claudia Handpainted Chunky. Unfortunately, the yarn sent wasn’t quite enough–I am about three rows after the sleeve bind off with no more yarn. Fortunately, OliviaGoddess is sending a coordinating yarn to finish the bolero with.
I just today started the third item, a pair of Improvisation fingerless mittens:
I’m using Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran and knitting them two at a time. I split the ball in two using my wonderful new scale. : ) Yay.
I finished the first of three WWFY items for OliviaGoddess. It’s a hat for a toddler.

So… I’m totally in love with this hat. LOVE IT. It’s an adorable design, and the chin strap is ingenious for babies. ADORABLE. So much so that I will have to make one for myself (but bigger, obviously0. I’m sensitive about things on my neck/under my chin, so instead of the long strap connecting to the side, I might make two shorter straps, one on each side and I won’t fasten them. I might still sew on buttons though.
I knit this hat up in a couple of hours: it’s SUPER fast. And the yarn, which is something that I’ve never used cause it’s a little out of my price point (but was sent to knit the hat for the recipient), is soft and squooshy and wonderful and I wish I could afford it more. Yay.
Tomorrow: another FO probably. Cause I knit like the wind.
So I recently arranged a WWFY (Will Work for Yarn, a swap group on Ravelry) trade to knit a couple of things. : ) I received the yarn yesterday with all the other packages.

That’s Jaggerspun Zephyr wool/silk dk. I absolutely cannot wait to knit it up–it’s GORGEOUS. Not sure what I’m going to knit with it yet, but whatever it is, it will be gorgeous. Yay.

My partner received the thread catcher I sent her, so today I can show it off!
It’s a pretty simple design–little pouch, connected to a bean bag with plastic pellets in it to weigh it to the table. Lovely.
I whipped up the main thread catcher in no time at all, but I had a hell of a time deciding how to decorate it. I’m very pleased with what I settled on though. Buttons and lace. ❤ I love how the buttons are all different.
Yay.
So I’ve decided to participate in NaBloPoMo for the month of November. NaBloPoMo, or National Blog Posting Month, is a challenge to post on your blog every day for the month of November. So I’m going to try. I might have to do a couple of silly memes, and there might not always be pictures, but I’m going to try. Because why the hell not?
In other news, I have a swap thing to share today. I did a personal swap with craftsunderground/Maria for a sewing accessory. I received the pin cushion she made for me today:
I think it’s super cool. : ) She asked me to pick from several themes, and I picked chess or champagne (clearly she went with the former). I love that it’s sort of heavy so it won’t fall over and there’s plenty of room for pins. Yay!
I finished the thing I made for her, but I haven’t sent it yet, so I’ll post about that after she receives. I also finished the Brambles hat I mentioned the other day. It’s currently blocking, but I should have pictures of that tomorrow.
So I am not going to Rhinebeck aka the NY Sheep and Wool Festival. And I am exceedingly jealous. I’d really love to go to a fiber festival, but sadly, there are very few near me, in the middle of Virginia. If all goes according to plan (meaning I can wrangle someone into driving me there), I WILL be attending Maryland Sheep and Wool in May (which I expect to be grossly hot). I’d love to be going to Rhinebeck, but alas, it is not so. I’ll just count down the days until MS&W (which incidentally is the weekend before I graduate from college and become a Real Adult). So, yay.
In other knitting news, I have been knitting like a fiend. I just finished up a pair of shark mittens for an Etsy customer:
and am currently knitting another pair, also for Etsy.
I also just finished up a pair of slippers for an OWS claim:

Yarn: Some pink acrylic nonsense and Jo Ann Sensations Rainbow Boucle (which is also some acrylic nonsense).
Needles: US 7/4.5 mm
Mods: Added the knitted-on icord border which, by the way, was a pain in the ass to knit.
I think they’re pretty cute. Perhaps I’ll make some for myself one of these days. In wool. Because I love wool.
I also whipped up this little pouch, which was also a pain in the ass and Leah, my Brother sewing machine, tried to eat it. Fortunately, it came out looking pretty nice:
Currently, as I mentioned, I am working on a pair of shark mittens and then I will begin knitting like a mad woman to attempt to finish the cape for my Halloween costume in time for Halloween. It’s gonna be close, and I suspect I’ll be staying up late on Friday (I’m going to a party on Saturday, I think) trying to finish. It almost certainly won’t be blocked, but I am going to try my damnedest to get the thing finished at least.
And then maybe write a pattern for it or something. One step at a time.
I finally finished the Liesl I was working on for WWFY.
Pattern: Liesl by Ysolde Teague
Yarn: 100purewool.com merino single
Needles: 6.5 mm
Mods: None, though I used the wide neckline and the picot bind off.
Don’t be fooled by the fact that this appears to fit my 32″ model despite that I made the 38″. I really did get gauge; the lace pattern is just reeeally stretchy and the sweater hasn’t been blocked. I’m sending it back unblocked so the recipient can block it to her measurements as desired, and also so I don’t have to wait for a bunch of wool yarn to dry all the way. I’m also sending it back button-less so she can decide which buttons are best.
In other news, my second blogoversary is tomorrow! Look for a special sale in my Ravelry store for readers of the blog!
